Children’s and Youth Yoga at The Base Yoga, Berwick, on Wednesday afternoons.

Nic Russell is the founder of South East Yoga and Wellbeing.
She has been working in the Education Industry for over 25 years. Starting out in the Early Years sector and now working as a TAFE teacher for young people in the VCAL program.
Working with young people allows Nic to understand the stresses of the teenage years, as well as maintaining her professional currency when working with school students within a yoga setting. This ensures that her yoga and mindfulness programs are relevant and suited to the students within the classroom setting.
Nic has been practising yoga on and off for over 18 years, including attending meditation courses with Melbourne Meditation Centre as well as completing her Diploma in Mindfulness, First Aid and Mental Health First Aid. She is registered with Yoga Australia and has full insurance cover.
It wasn’t until she undertook her kids yoga teacher training with Rainbow Kids in 2014 and her Level 1 Teacher Training in 2015 with Byron Yoga, that everything started to align with a higher purpose.
“I realised the benefit of introducing yoga into the education sector when I had one of those life changing moments with a teenager who had some serious health issues. She wasn’t attending any classes except my yoga class. I did some deep reflecting on this and realised that this was just too important not to acknowledge. It was the turning point of bringing together my years of experience in this industry and the amazing benefits of yoga”.
